I related your grandmother’s love for flowers and cooking to my mother’s love for them both as well… and like your grandmother, I hope my mother found her peace when cooking for her family (and my friends), and tending to her flowers. She also had a difficult husband. She taught me to cook and sew but I could never do either as well as she did.

You were lucky to have your grandmother thru your childhood. I didn’t get to meet my grandmother Anna until I was 22, when I went to Italy after college. I always longed to have a grandmother nearby. My grandmother D’uva taught me to crochet with fine threads like she used. She crocheted until she was 94, amazing. I would have liked to have known your grandmother too… she does look like you.

Oh wow Vis! Your tree is beautiful….the figs look lushous – if I were a bluejay, I’d bee there all the time too. Wish I couls come and visit and taste one for myself – I’ve never had a fresh fig!…at least not one right off a tree
